some Sam Raimi in this vampire flick taking place about 9 years in the future,
after vampires have taken over the Earth but ironically are starving because
they've consumed the blood of and transformed nearly all the humans. In a
special but glittery research building, scientists are trying to come up with a
human blood substitute, led by Sam Neill with fangs, but when Eathan Hawke with
fangs encounters a rebel band of transformed hybrids, he is in a race against
his own people to stop his former employer from killing random vampires to make
his goals come true. A gore fest of a flick with plenty of splattering bloody
fun for vamp fans, and dismemberment by cannibalistic vamps is always gross but
fun for them. Good Halloween rental fare on DVD. Review by Adam Browne
