Jim Sharman's legendary cult classic
rock opera defined the term "rock opera", (as did a pop band of the
time, the Who, but still). This zany transsexual Transylvanian vampire horror
house flick was the flick to see when coming of age, for each generation that
saw it. Teenagers would go to the midnight show and see slightly older adults
perform the scenes live, having watched it over and over evidently. Avoided
going to video until the 1990s, and on video it lost some of the appeal because
no audience could participate in the cheesy dialogue. Still, it's a classic
Halloween horror comedy with an all star cast, including Tim Curry and Susan Sarandon.
