Review: 'Ghost' is memorable fable despite ironic ideas

Ghost   PG 13
A woman loses her husband, but he turns into a ghost she can see. Either she's gone nuts, or ghosts are real, and make out with the living. Strangely ironic twist on romance is this odd classic of a lovelorn couple where one dies, Patrick Swayze who decades later is dead, and Demi Moore whose career is on life support, and the boyfriend dies but she imagines he is a ghost and can still see her and love her somehow. Ridiculous melodrama at times and it is odd that they didn’t play this for laughs. Uses a beloved wedding song in order to make it seem more romantic, "Unchained Melody" but he's a ghost! She's nuts. Amazing how many people have riffed this idea, and the tagline, "believe", even on the X Files a decade later.
