Review: 'The Fountain' is strange mind trip spanning many years

The Fountain   PG 13
A strange generational space opera set on a mysterious globe with a single passenger and a single tree, headed into a golden nebula seems connected to a modern day scientist's search cfor a cure for his wife's cancer, and an ancient conquistador searcing for the fountain of youth. Misleading title really, as it's not the fountain, but the Tree of Life, he finds, and it's not youth, but eternal life, the conquistador is seeking. Even so, powerful performances from Hugh Jackman, Rachael Weiz and Ellen Burnstyn make for a trippy "time travel" story. Hard to follow the first time around. Appeals to those 40 something as well as those 20 something.
