Review: 'Johnny Mnemonic' is silly cyber punk farce

Johnny Mnemonic   R
William Gibsom, the grandmaster of cyber punk, blew it letting someone adapt this adaptation of his story about a man with computer memory for brains. The problem lies in a weak script fleshes out of a much better source story, (which may not lie on Gibson's shoulders but on the studio), and a horridly low budget movie, with old Macs and PCs settling for future computers. Those old things were outdated even in 1995! Keanu Reeves would later be cast in the Matrix, but before that. he seems bored in this role, or possibly drugged. Robert Long's direction can't save it. It could have been a thriller, but it's not.
