Review: 'The Last Action Hero' tosses wrong message and weak story at boys

Last Action Hero   PG 13
John McTiernen was probably on something potent when he directed this true stinker. The premise is that somehow a magic ticket can bring a little boy's cartoon world to life, or puit him in the movie, only his fantasy is to hang out with a little "long in the tooth" Arnold Schwarzenegger. That would most certainly appeal to all the 4th grade boys who will just line up to see this movie because Arnie is way cool! No. It won't. The story is ridiculous. The parts where he is in reality are more cartoonish than the cartoon part. This idea was done ten times better in Never Ending Story and twenty times better Roger Rabbit. Here it's just meh. What's with that stogie (cigar) he's got? That's a good thing to teach kids. Smoke up, boys. Your hero has a stogie.
