Review: 'Gattaca' is about cheating the system, not beating it

Gattaca   PG 13
In a future when genetic perfection has become the norm, and only the best men go into space, a corporate man decides that he wants to fake his genetic perfection in order to go into space, despite a weak heart. He enlists former athlete friend who had been wheelchair bound to use his DNA to cheat. Interesting idea of a dystopian new world order story, often misunderstood as a message about deriding power taking over the world. The lead character really doesn't fight anyone. He just disguises his identity to his own ends. It's not about saving the planet, or anything so lofty. It's about one man's pursuit of his dreams.
