Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga'Hoole PG
Zack Snyder's take on the Lasky book series doesn't adhere to the books much but is an entertaining adventure and a take on the hero's journey idea. Young owls are snatched from their tree and whisked to a land of purist owls that try to brainwash them into fascist owls, but some of them escape to find the land of Ga'Hoole for help. Cut some the same young hero idea that gave us 'The Lion King' but not nearly as much fun as that movie. Also with evil siblings and kings, similar Shakespearean ideas, and again not nearly as eloquent as those. The 3D wasn't necessary or wanted.
