Review: 'Blazing Saddles' is hilarious send up to the crusty Western and musicals

Blazing Saddles   R
One of the greatest satires of all time, let alone cowboy movies, Saddles has one great punch line followed by one great joke all through the flick. The casting was great, from grizzled gunslingers to greasy bandits, and a clueless sheriff dude who is funny because he’s so unaware he’s being made fun of for his race, which truly could not be done today. The civil rights people would have a fit. The jokes are so bad they’re good at times, including a classic gag spoofed many times in other movies, a bean eating contest gone wrong, and a demented town welcoming where a man is unable to say the shocking ‘n’ world in public due to cymbals going off. The only drawback, they kind of went silly and lost the edge with the last 15 minutes. It would have been excellent had they kept going. Features a hilarious cabaret style song which implies that which everyone male in old Westerns thought, the singer is a tramp. Ha. But yes, the ending jumps into song and dance, ironically copied in Bollywood movies to this day.
