Field of Dreams PG
Phil Alden Robinson's baseball fantasy about a man who builds a baseball field in a cornfield because some ghosts from the Black Sox told him to, is kind of silly actually, in its bad to play the dramatic and touching story of a bygone era. Actually it doesn't look nearly as fun on repeat viewings. The now horribly cliche phrase,"If you build it, they will come!" came from this movie, as everyone from sitcom writers to news anchors blurted it out any time they wanted to play sentimental and more human. Ironically, the quote is a mispronunciation of a Bible reference to Solomon's temple, and then to the book of Acts. "If you build my church, they will come and worship and praise." But you can't expect everyone to get that. Had this guy said something like that, he would have been pegged as a loony. 'Dreams' is a dream. An X Generation favorite. but just very good upon review, not so great.
