Review: 'Fireproof' is unbelieveably preachy and trite for the converted

Fireproof    PG
Alex Kendrick's preachy message movie about a selfish firefighter husband and his estranged and weepy wife is at times interesting if not melodramatic. The fire scenes are cool but the preaching and the frantic yelling scenes are not. Cameron is okay in the role of the husband, but not as convincing as in 'Left Behind'. When Daddy offers him a 'love dare' to treat his wife right, the husband must turn to Christ to be redeemed. These are common sense things and could have been said without the preaching. Only the converted will enjoy this. It goes right to video before a movie release. What for? It's not big enough for that.
