The sex comedy is a guilty pleasure,
and sometimes they deliver the goods. This was one of those times. It almost
blew it, premature and all, but was rescued by a quirky cast that didn't seem
to want to disappoint in the end. Gregory and Huyck are relatively new
directors. Not sure if they did much of anything before. SNL writer alumni
Sudiekis, Labine, a minor TV actor, and Lindsay Sloan from TV, and various
relative unknowns in big movies make for a refreshing cast that actually could
be convincing as friends. The harebrained plot centers on the token fat guy's
attempt to have a blow out party with his best bud, Sudelkis channeling Chevy
Chase, who has a summer home which is to be sold. The guys plan to have a sex
orgy in order to make the final party before the house is sold. Zany cameos
include some weird ones in a 'mattress den' and Don Johnson as the father.
Definitely channeling what would happen if a new American Pie movie was made by
the actual creators and came out now, instead of direct to video, and picked up
where the old one left off, or better yet, a Porky's update, or a clever Van
Wilder retool. Not a bad movie. Raunchy fun for DVD but get the unrated version
