The Little Mermaid G
The Little Mermaid is truly one of the last great films of the 1980s, not just the last great animated American film. Hackett and Barnes direct a Disney take on the ancient tale of the mermaid, Ariel, and her love for the prince, Eric. The character drive this movie to impressive heights, with voice acting and character designs that remain timeless. The old Grimm tale is turned into a Disney staple complete with a girls’ quest to find acceptance, and a prince, to an evil villainous witch that is so remembered she has a spot in a Disney park. Ariel trades her voice to Ursula to get the prince, in exchange to become human for a few days. But audiences alike also groove to the amazing reggae singing crab. Great score, great songs, and very memorable moments make this one of Disney's crown jewels under the sea. Billed as classic before it came out, the film officially became classic as of 2009, a rating that is rushed a little but okay.
