Review: 'Wag the Dog' brilliantly pokes fun at political wars

Wag the Dog   R
Barry Levinson strikes again in this winner about a political sex scandal, a President, and a fake war designed to make the President look really good, and to ignore the scandal. Conspiracy nuts went crazy over this, because it somewhat mirrored the later years of President Clinton. This movie is way ahead of its time. It's as if the next presidential administration was using this flick as their playbook to invade Iraq. Ha. Well not really, but it makes one think. Also the bad guys probably saw it, and planned their nasty deeds post millennium in accordance with it. Levinson was just being snarky and cynical and had no intention of predicting the future, so don't think that's what this is. It's just one heck of a coincidence. However, it would be President G.W. Bush who would lead America into wars abroad for his own gains (with no love affair needed) a few years later.
