The Secret of NIMH G
Don Bleuth's dark and surreal epic of a bioengineered mouse family that must move before the tractor gets it, is one of those rare animated gems. The story is a rare animated drama which has at time sentimental brilliance, and also tells a message about a secret health department experiment that somehow made mice and rats intelligent. The farmer in the story is not aware of this. The cat merely wants to eat them. The wacky bird is obsessed with shiny things and string, as the comic relief. Dreary in a lot of parts but ultimately there is redemption. Not for the kids, unless you're already used to dark tales. The acting was also quite good. Review by Adam Browne
