Aladdin G
The best animated movie of 1992, Aladdin tells the legendary tale of Aladdin and his Magic Lamp as a cartoon. A street youth befriends a magical genie, Robin Williams, to win the hand of a beautiful princess. Great story, even if it isn't one of the Arabian Knights stories, despite what the song implies in it. Actually Ali Addin and the Lamp is based on a Chinese story, but since American studios get it wrong all the time with their source material, the wrong version is somehow right. And Disney, they do actually cut off robber's hands, so that song could have stayed okay from the theatrical print. Still a magical movie despite the weird stuff surrounding it, and its releases. Stands the test of time as a classic, even though really it won't be classic film until 2012. Review by Adam Browne
