Review: 'A Christmas Carol' cartoon is populated with copies of Jim Carrey but Scrooge take is well played

Disney's A Christmas Carol    PG
Robert Zemekis again turns to digital animation to pull off a movie about something more reasonable than a Nordic poem or a polar train ride with a million Tom Hanks robots. Now it's a few dozen Jim Carrey robots in his adaptation of the Charles Dickens classic, 'A Christmas Carol'. At times the tale is genuine and emotional, of Scrooge the old crotchety businessman who has lost the meaning of Christmas, but some of the eye candy 3D stuff for the kiddies is distracting. And at times the animated go motion projected people still look extremely fake, not even as fluid as a cartoon. It's not when something is whizzing by at mach 1, but rather when they try to show just a simple walking man, a turn of an arm at a dance, or some footwork. It's really hard to make the slower moments convincing, so he tosses in a lot of whiz bang visuals to make it look more impressive. Actually Beowulf was a but better. Polar Express was horrible so he's improving but not at his best.
