Review: 'Eagle Eye' is cheesy rip off of James Bond

Eagle Eye   PG 13
            D. J. Carusa directs a Shia LaBeuof action flick about a secret government operation where the hero is tracked everywhere via camera and gets in and out of explosive situations. Similar to a half dozen James Bond movies, and the Bourne trilogy, but really steals liberally from Tom Clancey based video games. Shia's attempt to play a spy who isn't supposed to be is a laughable expansion on the 'Phone Booth' ideas and on Matt Damon in bourne, where the computer stuff is ripped off from a dozen other movies, most notably War Games and 'Goldeneye' and 'Moonraker'. If it wasn't trying to hard to be a post 9/11 thriller an to everything but tell an actual cohesive story, it could have been fun. Since when is the US government that good with their master computer? Ha. Seems like Hal's sister is in this one because it does do 2001 territory too. You wonder why they didn't just install Vista on the mainframe and fry it.
