Kick Ass R
Matthew Vaughn's comic book homage.
Kick Ass is a high energy thrill ride for a teen comic book geek who dons a
modified green wetsuit to become a superhero, only to discover it's a lot more
trouble than it's worth. Bat Man and Punisher crossover super hero local and
his daughter, a 12 year old trained assassin, Hit Girl, are out for the blood
of the local mob gang, but Kick Ass is blamed for one of their jobs, bringing
them into the fight. A lot of newcomers (who did mostly TV) join Nick Cage and
the cast as wacky characters. This farce of superheroes is all in fun, sort of
the flip side of Watchmen. Who cares if it's ridiculous for Moretz's 12 year
old hit girl character to fight off an army of mobsters. It's a cartoon as live
action. It has heart. Review by Adam Browne
