Review: 'Transformers' is more than meets the animation

The Transformers    The Movie    PG
Transformers, The Movie was so big, so exciting, so beyond imagination, as they said, that it was just perfect. Arguably the best American animated film that year, 1986. Transformers concerned the characters from the madly successful TV series, post second season, but before third season, set 20 years after the second year, where Optimus Prime and his heroic Autobots are low on energy and trying to get Cybertron back from Megatron and his evil Decepticons. When a planet sized robot thing starts gobbling the solar system, it's up to all Transformers to spring into action! Orson Welles ironically played the giant planet! Leonard Nimoy played Galvatron. But the coolest thing was Judd Nelson as Hot Rod. That was just totally legit. The rocking 80s metal score was just what one would think Transformers should be.

  1. This movie was reportedly viewed in a crazy marathon the month it came out on video, 25 times. That would be once a night for almost all of that month in 1986.
