Review: 'Star Trek 2' is thrilling ride into the nebula

Star Trek II   The Wrath of Khan   PG
Nicholas Meyer reenergized the Star Trek franchise starting the "Genesis Trilogy" with this action adventure movie, a more militaristic submarine chase than space adventure, which worked on many levels, and which pits the hero, Captain Kirk, against his greatest enemy, a genetically engineered warlord, Khan Singh. Shatner and Nimoy shine in the story as friends and comrades, Kirk and Spock, who have been through a universe of adventures together. It being ten years after the first film is finally acknowledged. Starfleet has promoted Spock to Captain of the Enterprise and set the ship on a training mission that Kirk attends, but when a distress call is received from an outpost Kirk is familiar with, he takes command, and faces an old enemy. This movie is also easy for non fans to follow, and carries the series to a level the classic film series never really gets to again. One gaff, Checkov did not know of Khan nor he of him, as he wasn't on the bridge yet. But it can slide.
